Teucrium hircanicum 'Purple Tails'

Iranian Wood Sage

Tapering spires of rosy purple blooms over a lush mound of fragrant leaves from June onwards.

As its name might suggest, this plant will be quite happy in some shade though we have found it will tolerate a sunny spot too.

The flowers attract bees and butterflies and are long lasting, opening very slowly from pale, lime green buds. They make excellent cut flowers.

The faded flower spikes provide an excellent food source for small birds.

An incrediby unusual yet, extremely hardy perennial that you are unlikey to find in garden centres.
