Geranium maculatum 'Espresso'

Cranesbill

A great clump-forming perennial for shade. large, loose mounds of deeply divided chocolate brown foliage provide the perfect foil for the delicate, pale pink, cup-shaped flowers that float above the leaves in loose clusters from mid-late spring.

Great in woodland or for softening the edges of paths and borders, the unusual reddish, coffee stained foliage makes other blooms appear to glow against it. Looks particularly good with apricots and lime greens.

As with all geraniums, happy in any soil in sun or part shade and will tolerate reasonably deep shade but, at the expense of some flowers.
