Maiden Pink

Dianthus deltoides

A striking perennial with dainty, bright pink flowers on stems so slender they almost appear to float above the foliage.

Flowers are delicately fringed and look like miniature carnations from June - frosts.

Populations of this species have a experienced a severe decline in recent decades due to changes in grazing patterns and the it is now classified as Nationally Threatened.

Maiden Pinks thrive in well-drained soils in full sun and are ideally suited for growing in a rockery, over a wall, at the front of a border or in a flowering lawn.

Evergreen, mat-forming, dark green foliage always looks fresh and dense compared with some dianthus species which can get very leggy and woody in the centre.
