Meadow Cranesbill

Geranium pratense

Soft violet-blue, nodding flowers right through from June to September are so delicate on this pretty cottage garden plant.

Heavily dissected dark green leaves turn an attractive shade of red in autumn.

Easy to establish in a garden. Grows well in any sunny position.

Loved by bumble and honey bees and the food plant of the Brown Argus butterfly.

Its name derives from the beak-like fruits, which divide into segments, curl upwards and explode to release the seed. A great fun plant for children to grow.
