White Campion

Silene latifolia subsp. alba

Richly scented white flowers in loose clusters open in the afternoon and at night to attract pollinating moths from May - October.

An erect native, hairy perennial of roadsides and wasteland that is perfect for naturalising in a meadow or planted in large clumps in a 'wild' cottage border.

If planted with Red Campion, it will hybridise to produce Pink Campion.

Its impressively long flowering period and delicious light scent make this a must-have for any wildflower garden.

A short-lived perennial, living for only a few years but they will self-seed quite readily if allowed so this is not a problem. Dead-heading will prevent this.

Happy in any soil in any situation in sun or part shade.

Doesn't mind mowing once established.
