Yellow Pimpernel

Lysimachia nemorum

A cousin of the more well known annual, Scarlet Pimpernel, this hardy perennial is an absolute gem for growing on heavy clay soil in shade. Its bright yellow star-like flowers track the sun across the sky and bring a glimmer of sunshine to that tricky part of the garden where nothing will grow.

An incredibly long flowering period ( May - September ) and its leafy evergreen, mat-forming habit, make this an excellent ground-cover choice. And proves, in our book, that small really can be beautiful.

Incredibly easygoing and trouble-free. Dislikes too much lime.
